United Hope Refugee Education Centre (UHREC)

Charwiki’s first learning centre was started in October 2018 to meet the need for education of the refugee and asylum-seeking children in the area of Kepong, Malaysia.

For many of UHREC’s students, this is their first time in school. They are excited about the things that many school children take for granted: wearing a uniform, having their own exercise books, and being taught lessons by a teacher that is not their parent or sibling. Many of them have shown a keen interest in Art and Music.

We currently have 57 students, with many more on waiting list.

Our costs include rental of the centre, teachers’ salaries, utility bills, and school supplies.
